Unmissable Experiences for May Half-Term

May 16, 2019

With another bank holiday and school half-term nearly upon us, we look at some of the interesting, exciting and sometimes nail-biting things you could do nearby while glamping with us!

The Bear Trail, Cullompton, Devon

FOR ADRENALIN JUNKIES

It is #MayMuddyMadness at The Bear Trail – the award-winning family assault course – 28 obstacles, unlimited mud!  Scramble over the bear nets, zip down the zip wire and tumble through the tunnels. Or you could head over to Skern Lodge and go wet and wild surfing at the beach or kayaking or rafting on the estuary, or if you have a head for heights climb and abseil.

RHS Rosemoor, Torrington, Devon

FOR NATURE LOVERS

If you’re after something more relaxing pop along to RHS Garden Rosemoor where they have a nature trail and a chance for families to explore the garden in all its late-spring glory, find fabulous flowers, enjoy creative play with free drop-in craft workshops and spot wonderful wildlife. Celebrity and BBC Gardeners’ World’s Chris Beardshaw is also dropping by on the 29 May for a talk and book signing.

Torquay's Dinosaur World

FOR DINOSAUR FANS

There’s not one but two special dino events this Half Term. It is Torquay’s Dinosaur World’s 9th birthday and they are holding a week of celebrations at the fun interactive indoor exhibition that brings the world of dinosaurs to life. See amazing full size and scaled dinosaurs, discover incredible fossils, learn about these awesome beasts and even sit on a deadly dinosaur. Also over at family theme park Woodlands, encounter dinosaurs in their natural habitat in their Dino Trek attraction. Embark on an expedition like no other and get up close and personal with these prehistoric creatures. Meet Roary the interactive Dinosaur, but will you be brave enough for a selfie?

Jousting display at Powderham Castle, Devon

FOR HISTORY SEEKERS

Go back in time at Powderham Castle for some medieval madness. The Knights of Royal England are back by popular demand for a show-stopping jousting display that the whole family will enjoy. The Pocketwatch Theatre Company will also be running spellbinding shows throughout the week, for an exciting and interactive medieval experience including epic sword-fighting lessons!

There’s so much to see and do we don’t know where to go first!
