February 9th marks #NationalPizzaDay and we’re celebrating all the great places you can enjoy one while glamping on holiday in Devon! The Lost Kitchen – a converted barn with spectacular views is just a few minutes drive from Knightshayes National Trust and 20 minutes from Valleyside Escapes glamping. It serves wood-fired pizzas 12pm – 4pm Wednesday to Friday plus Friday and Saturday evenings.
Our closest market town, Tiverton, has its very own Italian restaurant – Ponte Vecchio serving a variety of pizzas as well as other great Italian dishes.
If you enjoy cider as well as pizza then go behind the scenes at the Cider Works and see how local award-winning Sandford Orchards Cider is made. You get to sample cider washed down with a stone baked pizza. The tours are monthly on a Friday evening from 7pm – 9.30pm.
Last year we took a day trip to East Devon and on the way stopped at the Otter Valley Field Kitchen. They serve yummy pizza as well as some other lunchtime dishes, overlooking the panoramic Otter Valley. You can also have a dessert because they produce their own ice cream in small batches. The flavours change with the seasons with some unique combinations – Rice Pudding & Jam, Strawberry & Balsamic Vinegar, Seabuckthorn – a bright orange berry which is citrusy and zingy in taste, and many more!
If you would rather enjoy a pizza on your veranda overlooking the beautiful Exe Valley in Devon you have the option of a takeaway. On a Tuesday or Thursday evening served from the Exe Valley Pizza mobile van that visits Silverton (7 minute drive) and Tiverton (10 minute drive) and we can verify 100% that their wood-fired pizzas are delicious!
If you decide pizza is on the menu while glamping in Devon you wont be disappointed and you definitely don’t have to wait until #NationalPizzaDay to enjoy one!
