For pre-school families we have highlighted our top 5 places to visit in Devon with babies and toddlers:
1# – The Devon Railway Centre – just a few minutes walk from our glamping site – there are train rides and miniature railways, a soft play, ball pit, outside play areas and last year they opened a new ‘build and play’ coach.
2# – A trip to the beach – Build sand castles, explore rock pools and eat ice cream. We’re very luck to be located in mid-Devon so north and south coasts are within driving distance and you have the choice of sand, shingle, stone, very quiet or bustling with towns and play areas set behind.
3# – Bear Town – This is such a great place – an indoor role play experience. Kids can pretend to be a hairdresser, run a café, own a shop, take to the stage and many more! It is for 12 month olds up to children aged 7. There’s a great café on-site as well so parents can enjoy a cup of tea or coffee while the children are having fun!
4# – A day out in Tiverton! – The market town of Tiverton is just 10 minutes from us and rain or shine there is something to do:
– Tiverton Museum – is a treasure trove of fascinating objects – kids love the farming machinery and the ‘Tivvy Bumper’ steam engine
– Tiverton Canal Company – Sit back, relax and enjoy seeing the canal and nature by horse-drawn barge
– Canal tea rooms – A quirky traditional tea room serving delicious lunches
– Grand Western Canal Country Park – Go for a stroll and at the canal basin there is a play park with pirate ship
– Halberton Court Farm shop has strawberry picking in the summer months plus the Swan’s Neck Café for a pit stop
5# – Combe Martin Wildlife & Dinosaur Park not only do the dinosaurs come to life and squirt water at you there are also real-life animals ranging from Lions to Wallabys to Penguins. Another highlight is the
dino train ride where at the end you get to experience a simulated earthquake – watch out for the tidal wave!
